Mayweather-Maidana Fight Week! And there’s plenty more boxing action
where that came from. Here’s the full schedule for this week, including
live coverage for cards on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night.
Monday, April 28
FOX Sports 1, 8:00 pm EDT, Michael Perez vs Jorge Romero, Jayson Velez vs Miguel Soto, McJoe Arroyo vs David Quijano. Pretty standard FS1 card, this one from Puerto Rico.
Wednesday, April 30
BLH LIVE STREAM, 4:00 pm EDT, Mayweather vs Maidana main event press conference.
SHO, 10:00 pm EDT, Mayweather vs Maidana All Access (Episode 3).
Thursday, May 1
BLH LIVE STREAM, 4:00 pm EDT, Mayweather vs Maidana undercard press conference.
ESPN2, 9:00 pm EDT, Roberto Garcia vs Victor Cayo, Jonathan Gonzalez vs Rogelio Medina.
FNF is back again on Thursday this week, as the NBA playoffs are
slightly more important than mid-level boxing, but hey, at least we’re
getting the show instead of an outright preempting of the series for a
few weeks, so that’s good news. The greatest mystery about this show is
if Jonathan Gonzalez will make weight, and if not, by how much he’ll
miss. BLH will have live coverage.
Friday, May 2
BLH LIVE STREAM, 6:00 pm EDT, Mayweather vs Maidana weigh-in.
FOX Sports 1, 9:00 pm EDT, Ishe Smith vs Ryan Davis, Mickey Bey vs Alan Herrera, Rico Ramos vs Jesus Cuellar.
This was supposed to be Erislandy Lara vs Ishe Smith, but Erislandy
Lara is instead going to fight Canelo Alvarez, so Erislandy Lara wasn’t
about to be dicking around on this show. The main event is a farcical
matchup now, as Davis is absolutely nothing more than a club fighter,
but the other two bouts are competitive on paper. That’s the good news.
The bad news is that this is a show anchored on the entertainment value
of Ishe Smith, Mickey Bey, and Rico Ramos, and, well, that’s not whatI’d advertise
when trying to convince viewers to buy a PPV the next night, but what
do I know? Nothing, that’s what! LEARN THE BIZ! BLH will have live coverage.
Saturday, May 3
ARD (DEU) / Sport 1 (HUN), 4:55 pm EDT, Arthur Abraham vs Nikola Sjekloca.
Abraham is making a quick turnaround to defend his recaptured WBO super
middleweight title. You may recall Sjekloca getting outclassed by Sakio
Bika on Showtime last year.
SHO, 8:00 pm EDT, Mayweather vs Maidana Countdown.
